This is Nathan. He is the main character from my book, Confessions of a 4th Grade Athlete. I am thankful to artist Corbin Hillam for bringing him to life. I tend to write a great deal for children, and really, it is that I always write what comes to me. I believe it is critical to motivate kids to read, not only to be literate, but to also fuel their imaginations. It seems even more important in our era of technology use. I am thankful for the opportunity to be able to use my imagination in maintaining my WordPress blog and to be able to read the wonderful work of so many other talented writers, see beautiful illustrations from creative artists and amazing photography from photographers. I hope everyone has a happy and productive 2016!

Thanks Millie, I’m happy with him. I hope it does appeal to boys, they seem to like reading least of all.
It’s the same with boys over here. The problem in the past seems to have been finding books on subjects that actually interest them. Your book looks exactly like something to grab the boys’ attention.

Yes! Books featured in my youth and my children and step children were/are read to and read everyday. Julia Donaldson is the flavor of the month for my nearly 5 year old step – daughter. Ohhh, he’s adorable! What a sweet illustration – draws me in (no pun intended) and makes we want to read all about Nathan. I’m working on my first children’s illustrated book (for 3-7 year olds). So much harder than it looks! 🙂
Thanks so much. Yes children’s books are much harder than people think. If you are able to draw, you are way ahead of me. I wish I was more gifted in that direction.
Oh noooo, I can’t draw. But I have a college friend who is an amazing artist, and she’s painting incredible pictures to go with my story.
